As losers of four out of their last five, and with the Giants and Rockies both thinking they are creeping back into the National League West race, Monday night's 4-2 win over the Rockies was a big win.
This win guarantees a couple of things...
First of all, it guarantees the Dodgers won't suffer a three-game losing streak until at least reaching the halfway point (which is amazing) and it pretty much guarantees (one more win is needed) that they will be on pace for 100 wins at the halfway point.
I've been getting down on the team a little bit lately, especially with all the slumps at the plate going on at once. So tonight I decided to go to the A's game, so I could avoid being too frustrated. The Coliseum isn't too far from my place and the Tigers were in town and I have a friend from Detroit, so I went with him to the game.
I found myself tracking the Dodgers game on my iPhone all night anyway, because I knew this was an important game, and when Ryan Spilborghs hit the home run, I was not happy. But, as they have all year, this resilient Dodger team fought back.
And when Andre Ethier comes up to the plate in clutch situations, I feel pretty comfortable that he's going to come up big and he did again.
Doesn't it just feel like the dude is gonna go deep every time he comes up at Dodger Stadium?
The win keeps the nice seven game cushion over the Giants. A loss would have gotten them closer to first place then they have been since May 17.
The Dodgers are also 28-20 without Manny Ramirez. I was hoping for .500. They have a chance to play .600 ball without him. They've done quite well.
There are a number of other things to touch on such as the Juan Pierre situation, Jason Schmidt, the rotation etc... Those things are all coming soon. Stay tuned.

Much needed, just like you said. It seems like every time I get down on this team, they fight back and remind me what is making them the best team in baseball.
Big win but lets see if they can win one of the other two games in a series, we had the upper hand in Chicago and against Seattle and lost both games....lets get a little rythm (for everyone but Andre the GOD) before Manny comes back.
Rotation still needs a 1-2 in the rotation pitcher added to dominate a seven game series...must trade for one and last I heard a package centered around McD and Dewitt wont cut it for Cliff Lee
