Friday night's loss upset me to the point where if I would have typed anything it would have been about nine words long, or a diatribe filled with foul language and unchecked rage.
So, I decided to wait a day, but I figured I'd be writing about the Dodgers losing the first two games and needing Clayton Kershaw to be the stopper.
But Jeff Weaver shut me up.
Weaver pitched well enough and Monsignor Russell Nathan Jeanson Coltrane Martin Jr. hit his first home run of the year.
The offense came up with big hits despite leaving too many runners on and the Dodgers came up with a much needed win.
Sure, Clayton Kershaw has great stuff and shut anyone down, but he's a craps shoot at this point, and not one to expect to be the stopper.
So thanks to Weaver, the Dodgers won't be swept and they will go even longer without suffering a three-game losing streak. Unreal that they haven't been swept or lost three in a row this season.
The pressure is off of Kershaw, and hopefully he can find the strike zone because when he does, the Dodgers have a good chance of winning.
On Friday night, it was really disappointing to see Chad Billingsley unable to hold a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. A pitcher of his caliber, or the caliber he wants to be considered at, has to hold that lead. He fought his control all night and he has been less than dominant lately.
I'm sure he'll shake it off, but his 10th win was for the taking and he couldn't grab it.
We'll break down the entire series tomorrow and talk about the upcoming series with the White Sox.
