Oaktown comes to Dodgertown

So I was sitting on my couch watching the Dodgers game last night with a buddy of mine, who is an A's fan. As you guys probably know, I live in Berkeley which is literally connected to Oakland.
I could seriously walk to Oakland in about five minutes. You guys that live in Los Angeles know all about going from town to town in a matter of minutes.
And despite what you think, Oakland isn't all that bad.
Okay, so it ranked sixth as far as the FBI rankings for the most dangerous cities in the United States. Sure there is a lot of poverty and crime and I feel scared walking or driving through their.
Okay, it's pretty bad, but there are some nice parts that I really enjoy.
Anyway, back to baseball.
So I am sitting with my buddy watching the game last night, and it was quite civil. So after the 5-4 Dodger win, I was thinking about that and why that was the case.
Do you know why it was so? Because A's fans are normal people. They aren't like Giants fans who bleed at the teeth at the mention of the Dodgers, or any team for that matter.
Sure, they hate the Angels and the Yankees, but it's rational. I mean, I hate the Giants, but not just to hate them. I hate them for all the right reasons. Most Giants fans just hate the Dodgers because. They know nothing about the rivalry, or the old New York days, they just know they should hate something from Southern California. It's ridiculous.
I mean, this guy I was sitting with suffered when Kirk Gibson hit the home run in 1988. He watched his juggernaut of a team get beat by a scrappy bunch of nobodies.
If I were in his position, I might be bitter at my friend, but he isn't. He's a normal person with a normal agenda. And surprisingly, this Oakland native never tried to stab, shoot, murder or rape me. What do you know!?!
Sure, I want the Dodgers to rip the A's hearts out. I want them to crap all over them for three games, but outside of that, I don't dislike the A's. I actually find them kind of likable.
They are the stepchild of baseball. They play in a monstrosity of a stadium, they are young, scrappy and full of characters. I just think they are hard to hate.
What I do hate is watching the Dodger pitchers serve up fat pitches to horrible hitters like Bobby Crosby and Rajai Davis.
I don't dislike the A's, but the Dodgers better take two out of three in this series. A sweep is actually what should happen.
I am getting frustrated watching this Wednesday night game, after being frustrated for much of Tuesday night. I better sign off before I go to Oakland and commit a hate crime.

"Most Giants fans just hate the Dodgers because"

thats because they are envious of our titles that we won since moving to California...I think that its a few more than they have won since moving to San Fran!
